um, no. just no.

My husband is getting antsy. It's August, you know. August means football. The SI Fantasy Football guide arrived last week, which is not to imply that he hasn't already been "scouting." This week, while he is sadly out of town, the College Football Preview arrived. There is nothing quite as thrilling to M as the impending arrival of the gridiron. He's even crazy excited about Dickson County football. We'll be picking up our season tickets on Friday, and he'll be ordering Vanderbilt season tickets when he gets home. I think he'll feel like a more complete person once he has both season tickets in his possession.

Anyway, I, too am excited about football season. However, I am in denial about FAVRE. Brett Favre is not a NY Jet. He is a Green Bay Packer. I am not happy. Not happy at all. I just wanted him to retire and get into a little broadcasting so I could occasionally drool over him in all his salt-and-pepper glory. It's not to be, however, and I fear that he just won't know when to let go like so many great athletes before him.

I'm out. Happy Thursday, peeps.

Okay, you know I don't even FOLLOW football and I'm pissed about Favre. That's how much of a cultural icon he is, so I feel you.

Oh yes... our house is similarly abuzz with the football excitement. Not to mention that NY Giants training camp has started and occurs in B's hometown.

He's already scouted out how to get NFL Sunday Ticket (via satellite) if we move to Nashville in the middle of football season so he can still watch the Giants games.

T is already considering buying season tickets to the Bills next year. Plus he and his friend J have taken over J's father's tailgate that's been going on for about 20 years. It's all very serious. We have a great team here at my local high school, but it may be different now that the star player has graduated. Hopefully we'll still knock 'em dead.

As for Favre, J called our house at 7:30AM to discuss it with T. Now, that's serious.

I wish season tickets to the Irish were an option! And I feel the same way about Favre - Michael Jordan needs to give him a ring and tell him to just let it go...
