a little tudor obsession

I think I need a break. I've been fairly inundated with the Tudors lately. Reading Philippa Gregory novels. Watching The Tudors*. Watching Cate Blanchett portray Queen Elizabeth I. The thing is, I'm wearing myself out with it, but I keep going back for more. I took a little break and read Les Miserables because, really, there's nothing to get you out of an "I'm Henry VII, and I will rack or behead you with the quickness" funk quite like the French Revolution. Right?? And then there's Catch-22, which I still can't finish. So, I'm in need of a little something new. I picked up a copy of A Wrinkle in Time today, and a friend recommended Mere Christianity, and I've got a couple of books on the shelves here that I'm planning to read, but they're mostly classics and therefore, most likely, depressing.

Any suggestions? What are you all reading right now??

*I do not regret watching this awful show. Really, it's a little too pornographic for my taste. However. However, it has introduced me to my new favorite eye candy: Henry Cavill. Oy.

I just finished New Moon and am now reading Eclipse. Talk about delicious trash. I'm also supposed to be reading something deep for my book club but I haven't started it yet.

So, Henry Cavill is one of the best looking men I've ever seen EVER.
Also - A Wrinkle in Time was my favorite book as a kid (followed very closely by the Lloyd Alexander "Book of Three" series). And, I'm reading "A Year of Living Biblically", which is kind of awesome.

Well I definitely do not have any uplifting suggestions for you - however, three books that are undeniably a fresh reminder of how lucky we all are... Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and (A Memoir by Ishmael Beah) Life of a Boy Soldier - all three are a circus of emotions - but in an "I can't put this down kind of way":)

Okay, for lighter reading, you need to check out Criss Cross by Lynne Rae Perkins. It's a children's novel and won the Newberry in 2007, I think. It's great. Very sweet, about preteens just starting to have crushes. Then there's The Book Theif by Marcus Zusak. Not so light, but an amazing book. Made me wish I could write a lick of anything. The Year of Living Biblicly (sp?) is great, and so is Rapture Ready (cause it's always fun to make fun of truely crazy christians). I could recommend many, many more.

And yes, that man is yummy.

Forget books. You need some good ol' HBO soft-core vampire porn! Two words: True. Blood. Stop fighting me on this.
