bite me

Okay. It's official. I have moved back to the place where I was once a fifteen-year-old girl, and I have become a fifteen-year-old girl once again. My newest obsession is Twilight. That's right. Every other teenage girl and I in the country are in L-O-V-E with Edward Cullen/Cedric Diggory.

Normally, I don't dig vampire stuff, despite the urgings of dear Kristie who loves vampire movies. I usually think they are annoying and stupid, and I generally lack the ability to suspend disbelief enough to enjoy them. However, late Saturday night, I was unable to sleep (which has been an issue for a couple of weeks now), and I was kind of over reading my new book for the night, so I picked up Twilight, which I had borrowed from my cousins just in case I felt like a dose of fiction. I did not put it down until I was completely finished. I didn't even get up to pee, which resulted in a very long trip to the potty when I was done reading after six-and-a-half hours.

The book was intoxicating. I couldn't stop reading. It sucked me in, and I loved every second of it. Look, I know it's not great literature or anything, but it was highly entertaining. So much so that I required my husband take me to the movie yesterday afternoon after we visited with his dad. Like all books turned into movies, the book was significantly better, but I can see that the movie would be perfectly fine without the book. I recommend the book, though. I recommend it a lot. But only if you're a girl. I don't think it would have the same appeal to guys. You know, if you weren't able to sit there reading, imagining Robert Pattinson smolderingly staring holes through you. Like I said, L-O-V-E.

So, I am anxiously awaiting the second book from Hillary and Abbe, though I've promised my husband I won't start reading it until the weekend. I am certain that my parenting skills would suffer if I chose to continue staying up all night reading vampire chick-lit. So, I'll wait...

Hope everyone else had a great weekend. Especially those of you who were able to attend the FIRMYs.

If you thought that the first book was intoxicating, just wait until you get farther along into the series... it is so addicting that it will be hard for you to wait until the weekends to read. Good luck on that endeavor. We can't wait to see you guys next weekend :)

Hmm...I'll have to check it out. I heard it's pretty much like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, switched. However, I was wary of the Harry Potter mania at first too, and now I'm a self-confessed HP freak, so I'll have to check them out! Thanks!

The fourth book is BY FAR the best of the series. I actually didn't like the first three books that much, but the final book is such a great pay off. Have fun!

I have been meaning to call you about this! I was hoping you would see this movie and start reading the books. I believe Edward Cullen is my favorite vampire ever! He is perfect in the role! Remember how we thought that Cedric looked just like M in the movie? Greg and I watched HP last night and laughed because he looks so much like M in that movie! Maybe you should get him to grow his hair out! No trip to the barber every week! Ha!

I, too, have been"bitten and smitten" by the Twilight series. I am a semi-grown up 36 yr old woman. I shouldn't be reading teeny-bopper vampire smut. I love the classics for crying out loud. I am in a book club with intellectual women. We read smart people books!!!
...now I feel like the Mc D's commercial that had 2 girls sitting around drinking lattes at a"Starbucks". When they realize that they can get their fancy coffee drinks at MicD's, they are giddy...I can wear high-heels,I don't even like jazz, I don't even know how to speak french...that is how I feel-like the person who just found out that it's okay for smart, well-read ladies like us to read us some dreamy Edward vamp romance saga. I swore I would never read it or watch the movie. I was swayed by another well-read lady who is even older than me. I have had a waste no moment during my day and stay up until the wee hours couple of weeks. I finished Eclipse at3:30 this morning. I also drug the kids out this afternoon to pick up breaking dawn. I am 150 pgs in now. I shamefully admit to paying my 9 yr old $1 to make pb&j for her brother and sister for lunch today so I could read. It is exhausting and exhillerating all at the same time. She writes with lots of raw emotion!
In conclusion, I am a sleep-deprived, child-laborer who is in love with Sex on a stick Edward Cullen. Please forgive the length of my comment. I am passionate on the subject .also, overlook any spelling, grammar, or puncution errors. I am bleary-eyed now. I am also a little reeved up. Might wake up hubby...he would never guess I am thinking about Edward! I just growled like a vampire...sorry you missed it!
