Oh, in other news...S sort of walked yesterday. She's been taking one little step for awhile now. By "one step," I mean she moves one foot forward then plops down. Yesterday, though, there were two steps. She was after the cookie I was eating. How hysterical is that? I laughed and laughed and laughed. Then I gave her well-deserved bite of my cookie, which she thought was great.She's also officially got a first actual word (not just syllables that coincide with words like bye bye and dada and mama), though it's not at all what she's trying to say. It's OTIS! Really, it's O-din, but she's trying so hard. She makes the right motions with her face, but her vocal cords aren't really cooperating. She says it, though, and it's adorable.

Congratulations! Your child is clearly a prodigy. Perhaps you can get her a chemistry set and grand piano for Christmas - can you imagine the things she could do with them!! :)
Oh, I just get so happy and so bummed when I read stuff like this about S and baby L... why aren't I there to see it all!?? I think you both should start doing video blogs!!
Okay, I'm going to be THAT person and chime in as the dorky speech-language pathologist who just can't help herself. Her vocal folds are perfect and cooperative. She has what we call the correct place of articulation, meaning her lips and tongue and teeth are all in the right places. She has the wrong manner. The difference between "t" and "d" is only whether or not you use your voice. And the difference between "s" and "n" is using your voice and letting some of the air out through your nose. The "d" and "n" sounds developmentally emerge before "t" and especially "s", so she's perfect. And I'm sure Otis will agree that "Odin" is close enough. Hooray for S!! So exciting.
What a thrill! I love hearing about all of S's milestones. That's so exciting and sweet that Otis is her first word. :-)
